Relocation Resources
Landing that perfect career opportunity involves a variety of factors, especially if you are making a move to a different community. As a candidate of B. E. Smith, you will receive extensive information during the interview process on the community you are considering. Below are additional resources and tips to help you research areas of the country that you may have an interest in relocating to for that perfect job!
Relocation packages vary with each position and hospital policy. Below are typical offerings for healthcare candidates.
- Temporary Housing – Facilities may offer anywhere from three to nine months of temporary housing if needed. This could be given in the form of an allowance or the organization may have access to hospital housing or a corporate apartment for new employees.
- Relocation Assistance – Amounts can vary and range, on average, from $3,000 to $10,000. Hospitals may request new employees to provide three bids for mover expenses, from which they can review and choose the appropriate service. The facility may also have a relationship with a moving company that it prefers you to work with. Be sure to ask about what you can spend and what is included with relocation – there may be a cap on expenses, as well as limitations on moving some extreme items (e.g., horses, boats, etc.).
- Permanent Housing - Will they buy my house or help to sell my home? This is not a common relocation piece, but for some C-Suite positions it is offered.
When considering relocating, make sure you discuss the move with your family. Communicate your needs to the healthcare recruiter you are working with to ensure the on-site visit touches on the pieces that are the most important for you. Request to meet with a Realtor for a community tour, discuss housing options, and get additional information on schools, community events, and other activities.
